Of The One Family Poem by Francis Duggan

Patriotic fervour and National pride
These things are prevalent nowadays Worldwide
Many say they unite but in truth they divide
When those who are different of free speech are denied.

There are certain things nowadays that people dare not say
In their genuine fear of getting locked away
In some horrible prison for a lengthy spell
The stench of Patriotism is such a foul smell.

Our Political leaders insure they stay in power by instilling in us fear
Of those to us who are different only negative things we hear
They try to convince us that war is okay and that terror is all wrong
Though to the same awful family this awful pair belong.

Patriotic fervour and National pride are of the one family
They lead to aggression and war that's how it seems to me
But mine is only one opinion just that and nothing more
And what I say in other ways by others has been said before.
