Misconception Poem by Dorsey Baker

Misconception

I see nothing
in your eyes show
that would let me know
what despise
your heart has found
in me
I am
your darkest street
your freezing rain
your overcooked
and burned eggs
your rusty bucket
of nasty water

bird has left its cage
the freedom of the
skies its home now

a face turns
itself toward the wall
contact between the bodies
forbidden
a matter of choice
you're better than me
so you say
