Mahatma Gandhi - Inspires Generations!

Rating: 5.0

O to be born, to be shot
and to die with three bullets in the chest
when an entire nation he has blessed
with an unending gold dust of freedom,
that was him, a one who will never
vanish from the memory of every Indian
and whose name will forever be
on the lips of our every child......
as every generation will get inspired
by his true story-
a story of 'self-sacrifice': -
From a young lawyer in a coat
to a man in dhoti he lived
holding on to his walking stick
till legs were weary and dreams turned true
his entire life in that struggle
to free India, he devoted;
the railway platform in Africa
was where the sense of awakening
sparked in his heart and mind,
he realized his own country wanted him
more than his own ambitions wanted an acclaim;
he looked around his sphere of realities
he saw that a nation without freedom
was like a house on fire,
like a rocking ship amidst a swirling storm;
he alighted on new thoughts, new aspirations
his new goal was a dream of freedom
for his very own country;
as in those concave hearts of his own brothers
was a pain of sadness,
an image of unworthy exploitation
that was going on for years;
as in his own India dwelt his own brethren
who lurked in humiliations and discrimination
under the colonial regime;
So he came seeking freedom for them
by peace he went on speaking,
chasing the common goal of a 'free India';
without a fight, without a weapon he evoked
patience in patriotism;
just in simple clothes of khadi around his body
and with an alluring determination of duty,
he walked and talked like all saints do,
trying to dispel hatred; promoting acceptance
keeping his commitment to the cause of independence
which every Indian was silently desiring;
in the fierce fight for freedom of our nation
he enforced non-violence, tolerance
as many brothers had lost their hopes in their struggles;
so, tightly he held on to the ropes of trust and unity
he decided not to give up those dreams of others
and though disparity, dis-content
raged like forest fires in every corner,
in every street of our country,
the colonists finally chose to go
as the principles of Gandhi they could not over-throw;
hence without a fight, without a war
Gandhi crafted the independence for our nation.
unto us he dedicated every cell of his body's strength
every breadth of his anguished quest,
as hundreds of times he agreed and dis-agreed
sparking in them the guilt that their days of
colonization had reached its ending
for God has vouched men to live free
and not in the clutches of other's rules and powers;
yet in the aftermath, when the storms of new situations
of peoples'decisions confronted him,
Gandhi extended his own understanding and empathy
to the dividing faiths
and though free was India, he yielded to the exodus
with pain when our Indian brothers
themselves decided to part ways and go to dwell
in the domains of their own faiths.
As a true worshiper of humanity he supported
whatever was the better way to live and love;
his dedication, his perseverance surmounts...
as our children wake up in the glory
of every dawn that is full of peace
as every Indian sleeps in the night
with the arms of independence around him
while our nation breathes together
with a feeling of oneness and true liberties.
