Lost In A Photograph Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Lost In A Photograph

The sunset paints the background just above her head
Her smile lit the hues that flickered from the sun's rays
The trees
A mere image of what we hoped to be
The roots from which we stand tall
as we flourish from the strength found in each other
Her make up covers the blemish of her face
Already so perfect
So round
Her eyes are tight, but open
Awake from the quick flash
Taken from the camera just a few inches away
Eagerly awaiting the last flash so her erect cheeks could come back to rest
If you blinked
You would've missed all her perfect imperfections
The way the wind brushed across her face as it squinched
The way her fingers parted her hair as it slowly fell back into place
The simple things that made her all so perfect
All seen from the hands
Now old
Withered
As the days don't seem long
With the picture of my love
