Laughing Song Poem by William Blake

Laughing Song

Rating: 3.0

When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;

when the meadows laugh with lively green,
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene,
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing 'Ha, ha he!'

When the painted birds laugh in the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread:
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of 'Ha, ha, he!'

I'm not laughing. William Blake has many better poems than this one that could have been chosen as Poem of the Day.

A poet's eye see the nature in its purest form. The song of joy comes only when we merge with nature and feel oneness.

The magic of nature comes alive in the form of colours and sounds which are not for our ears or eyes but for the heart of all nature lovers. It is the nature in full bloom. Wonderful poem.
