Lagos Poem by Michael Ordia

Lagos

In the heart of Yellow with black stripes
Where love is a business deal
Lips are wrapped with lies
And kindness is a sin.

In the heart of these restless roads
Lies the struggle for survival
The hunger for greatness flows
The truth is called lier.

In this Center of Excellence, our cave
Life and death are forged
Poverty can be tamed
Our soul could be won.

In this great city of Lagos
Money must be made
The struggle must pay us
It doesn't matter the way.

In this great city of hidden wealth
We must be rich even if it means death.
