On a cold, December night many years ago,
As a young lad, I lay comfortably in my bed.
I imagined that elves entered my room
And danced merrily around my head.
It was my desire to join them
And clap my hands with glee,
But before I had a chance, they disappeared
As quick as quickly could be.
I was told they were called Santa's messengers,
And I heard my mother often say,
They visit well behaved little boys and girls
Awaiting the festivities of the Holiday.
My mother believed, If I continued to be good,
They will take me by the hand
And whisper encouraging words into my ear,
' Come on to Toyland.'
