Greatness In Courage Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Greatness In Courage

Rating: 5.0

Surfing atop a huge wave is not it,
gliding from the skies is not it,
skiing rapidly thro' the snow is not it,
but it is motherhood on a mission
of bringing up her children,
caring for them, educating them,
all by herself without discouragement
without stopping to cry
or without allowing despair to stop her,
commitment overtaking hardships
her dedication to her children
rising to an apex
when that mother all by herself
does the things she has to do
to make her children triumph,
it is an award she gives to herself
for her own excellence,
for her own directions,
for her own guidance
she offers to her children.
O' to be a mother like her:
to bear silently the cold winters,
holding her children in her arms
in turns, to feel their warmth
and to let them feel her warmth,
to fill them with comfort
and let herself feel comforted;
to help them to achieve success
and to beam with satisfaction
over their accomplishments
before she dies…
with all her obligations fulfilled;
O' that was a mother who had truly
a greatness in her courage.
