Give Me Strength

Rating: 3.9

This is my prayer to thee, my lord---strike,
strike at the root of penury in my heart.

Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.

Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.

Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might.

Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.

And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.

What a powerful prayer and aimed so well at the common fault-lines in our make-up. I applaud the simplicity of his prayer- he is talking directly from his heart and soul to his Creator and in doing so he talks without ornamentation, gaudiness, or look-at-me stylish writing. He is simply and reverently praying for God to invest him with strength to do God's will. Absolutely a model of prayer.

This is one of the best prayers I have seen in the recent past, to ask for the strength to bear the suffering and to obtain the strength for serving is something very unique and different......100+++++
