Father Poem by Bhekumuzi Dlamini

Father

Rating: 4.5

Life so a drifter, a father and a son away
What makes me proud, my roots pulsing up my veins
Wherever the Lord leads the way
Or even if I misplace my name, this I will retain
That I am my father' son

Fortified to make you proud
Though my esteem bears the pains of the crowd
In the loudest pitch inside my heart I will shout so loud
For you are my father, you are my powerhouse
Light my gloomy hours like the winter night sky

A colt lost in the pines, though your trust promised it would be fine
No matter the time, even if the clock rewinds
You always incarnated your smile so rough, a father's, beside my crimes
You discerned my run, but I tripped and you patched my bum
Your love bailed my counts and raised my pride

I am my father' son to rise and be the morning shine
To keep the bloodline flowing down the canal of love
To recapture his younger times, to wear his browns
I resemble the classic you, to class out the modernized
You taught me how to spell quality
You prestamped my decisions with the code of precision

I am my father' son
My chest's treasure only I could find
A souvenir so faithful through bad and through good times
I have faith, I am a saint of my own destiny
I do believe I was born to touch the sky.

Lovely piece of poetry depicting the deep compassion and positive influence of a doting dad, well articulated and insightful penned from heart with conviction. Beautiful portrayal of a chip of the old bug. Thanks for sharing Bhekumuzi. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
