Eternal Night Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Eternal Night

Rating: 5.0

Take this handkerchief
That is scented with the sweat of my brow
As we waltz to Strauss until the dawn awakens
The light blinds us without sleep
We watch eternity stop finally
As we fall into a slumber that we
Cannot return from
We perish as two lovers
That had a dying wish
For the eternal night
That never comes

You made eternity so real to the two lovers who thought death will finally end the quarrel but that eternal night night never came on earth for them and they took final journey to abode above. Beautiful poem.

A brooding and sombering work its almost gothic in tone, which is probably why I like it so much! The best kind of love is always a little dark!

Very romantic, a very captive poem that speaks the truth and nothing but the truth, we all want the eternal night so passionately, but out of reach. A true marvelous poem, LeeAnn.5 Stars and to my favourites.

Eternity...you suggest that is something we all want, yet cannot quite claim. This is a magnificent verse, LeeAnn.
