Disability Poem by Christina Simmons

Disability

Oi! What are you gawking at in such astonishment! This image portrayed before your sight? A disfigured amputee? Tried so hard to rebuild to no avail: a building constantly crumbling robbed of cherished individuality

Infrastructure is under construction: motor is refusing to support
Foundation is rocking all over, unsteadily soaking ready to drop so fearful of reaching destination: waiting at the end of the tunnel are many lost souls to rip and pull my torso into sherds; nonetheless remain standing steadfastly or am I really floating in transit never stopping for a breather

Weak and fragile not completely solid give a slight shove and will fall: hold me up don't allow me to trip and go into oblivion; must stay alert see the path clearly; There is no denying I'm on a journey arrive at the otherside I must! - Goal setting;
Faith and trust I'll make it through; - determination, stubbornness will not give up on me

Will not swear legion to a church, mix with hypocrites no sir!
Believe it's working for my higher good without insanity, it's preordained perpetually round and round I go in a circle indefinitely - never touching the wall-barrier
Course of action was predicted long before my birth so I'm enjoying the ride? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Oranges and lemons

Wailing, shredding tears rolling down my cheeks big time! Disappeared overnight, blinked and it was gone snatched away
Issuing warning so you'll not have to be a casualty instead you sulk at a face that doesn't meet the mark: did you know I was once a gal so beautiful could launch a thousand ships! You see times can get dark yet have sense of humour; sassy, stable and stylish
Do come in I make a lovely cup of tea.
