Corridor Of Silence Poem by Yury Emelianenko

Corridor Of Silence

Rating: 4.0

Change person's speech

Don't address him by name

And once in awhile you'll create

A corridor of silence that looks

Like a field of sweet, green lawns.

We know your beautiful voices

So close it will split apart,

Like fingerprints left on a wall.

One by one they'll disappear,

But, like waves, then you'll find

Of a pure energy, that it travels

So easily along different paths.

Scattered along those paths

A sound from one is like a champagne cork

But if you're hungry for so much more

It ends and you'll start again.

Ask, "Where did you go? " and believe me

You won't have to say a word.

To prove that change can be done,

Do something one of the hardest things

You can ever do: Write a letter.

***

I 'm anti-rose-colored memories

Then they all swell together.

One thing I keep hearing

Is, "When I was young, I was good."

"Then I grew up."

I 'm one of those guys who doesn't read much.

So I don't know if any of these seem true.

Or, if you think about this long enough,

Maybe you'll realize that there are shades to be found.

I 'm 80, though I 'm a master.

Don't be surprised when you hear my age.

My ears and mouth still work like they did

In high school.

Plus, I 'm the only one who can read.

***

Like everybody else I love

A night stroll, still on my beat.

My ears perk up when I hear the birds sing.

A long, warm breath that falls when I smell the roses.

***

Do not associate me with a certain future.

You want it now, But in time it'll come

As a brilliant storm blows through,

Like it did back in the day.

Be patient, or it'll come and go.

Help for a price.

***

When our infatuation wanes

Well, we're free.

Acknowledge it then and finally let go.

***

Ask how long I've been free.

What time we need to hurry.

With time running out.

Want a little more.

Don't be late.

***

I'm not dead yet,

And a few days may give you a painful surprise.

But do keep breathing

Though some days may be slow.

There are days when I feel like all bets are off.

Then I get up to face the day.

Don't close your eyes.

Cynicism let loose in poetry. But, as a poem, it's good.

Ask how long I've been free. What time we need to hurry. With time running out. Want a little more. Don't be late.......changing comes by naturally, if it's not by that then there happens something good or bad; as lonely in the corridor the changed heart never feel good if it lives alone; whatever the world is our we need to change ourselves by inside into good.....well feelings crafted on the corridor of silence....
