Childern Will Be Children Poem by Emmanuel Odei Oduro

Childern Will Be Children

I have come to realize
Children will be children
That is the naked reality
That is the plain truth
Truth you rather accept
Or consume a complete century
Trying tiringly to change
What is simply and strangely set
Children will always be children.

Children will be children
Advice then all day long
Chastise them all day through
Preach to them at every opening
Yell at every error committed
Be the paragon of perfectionist
The reality remains the same
Children will always be children

Seasons have their flagrant features
Childhood has its marked makeup
Complexion which must cheekily unfold
Nature no guardian can withhold
Just as summer rains must fall
And the vegetation blossom
Childhood facets good and bad
Must grace and debase the season
No matter what a parent does

Allow children to be children
Your job is to steer them through
With the carrot and the stick
They will know the right choices
But until they become wise choosers
Until they can look back and reflect
And say now I understand
Children will be children
