'Behind The Smile' Poem by Bernard Snyder

'Behind The Smile'

Rating: 3.4

I've always known she was taken
but something about her made me keep trying,
I used to flatter her with sweet pleasantries
knowing she would read between the lines,
I used to start a conversation with her
just to see her smile
a lot of times I made no sense at all
but she knew my intentions all the while,
I'm sure she knew exactly how I felt
as I reflect back on it now
but a beautiful smile of acknowledgment
was all she ever allowed,
I'm not sure which I adored most
her beauty or her style
or how would I react
if I knew the thinking behind her smile!

Another good one. Was she the Mona Lisa, I wonder? Enjoyed this one too.

Her elusive smile is baffling..... You would like to decipher the secret code behind it. Couldn't it be Love? I am sure you adore both her beauty and style! Enjoyed! Thanks for visiting my page and for the sweet comment!

You seem to always have good narrative stories to share. Narrative poems are my favourite. It's a lovely poem and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem THE PHOENIX STRANGLER.

A beautiful smile especially when it's from the heart can be very alluring. Just a touch of hint from it can cause the heart to skip a beat. Very good write.
