As imperceptibly as Grief
The Summer lapsed away—
Too imperceptible at last
To seem like Perfidy—
A Quietness distilled
As Twilight long begun,
Or Nature spending with herself
Sequestered Afternoon—
The Dusk drew earlier in—
The Morning foreign shone—
A courteous, yet harrowing Grace,
As Guest, that would be gone—
And thus, without a Wing
Or service of a Keel
Our Summer made her light escape
Into the Beautiful.

Emily Dickinson as always... writes such beautiful verses, that it takes your breath away.

This is more than a poem for me, this is a true representation of the plight of humanity. My heart is sown into this story of grief, making it stronger before. Truly confounding.

I definitely agree, her work is truly mind-blowingly beautiful. It really is an imprint of modern society and speaks to on a molecular level

This poem, in my view, is one of her 4 or 5 best - along with 'There's a certain Slant of Light', 'A Light Exists in Spring', ' I Started Early', 'Because I Could Not Stop For Death'. A masterpiece of concision.
