A Blue Jewel On Black Velvet Poem by * Sunprincess *

A Blue Jewel On Black Velvet

planet earth is my special home, and this home I love
the mountains I love, the desert I love, and the sea I love
and I especially love, fluffy white clouds above!

altogether, I receive pleasure from my home
like if holding sand, in the palm of my hand
or walking upon dirt, rocks, clay or even mud!

truly, I feel happiness is enjoying home
like a walk on a sunny day, in the month of may
seeing flowers and trees, grass and leaves!

and I feel, bliss is the enjoyment of home
like whistling a tune, in the month of june
feeling cool water, air, and warmth of the sun!

all of these aspects of home, are life's necessity
anywhere on earth I roam, I am enjoying home
this planet is special, this blue jewel is my home!

Comparing your home to a blue jewel on earth. Very good thoughts and feelings. Home is where the heart is. A sweetly composed write. Poets are rich here on PH. We receive a lot of valuable thoughts, comparisons, inspiration, exposure and a tremendous amount of talents and support.

I was immediately drawn to read this poem because the title is such a vivid image - it's like a haiku - a poem complete in just one image. But I was surprised that you fleshed it out into a poem embracing all of Spring in May/June, the loveliest 8 weeks on our jewel of a planet surrounded by night. Do you know Ezra Pound's poem IN A STATION OF THE METRO? In about 1910 he reduced a 30 line poem to: The apparition of these faces in the crowd; /Petals on a wet, black bough. Amazing! That's why he's considered one of the creators of Modern Poetry!

, , , when we live in a house, , , we will love it more than any other house of that city , , , , , when we compare two cities we would praise the city where we live at, , , , as we zoom out, , , we would love the country where we live in , , and like it more than other country, , , but once as we start to love our planet (our true home) as a whole irespective of the place where we live at, , , , , what a wonderful thing that would be, , , here in this poem i see, , what a beautiful perception you have about our earth, , and your love for earth is pure

I liked how you put the title, blue jewel equals earth, black velvet equals universe.
