Across the verdant pastures green
a monochrome cow herd could be seen
and several beasts with deep intent
emitted their chocolate effluent.

As I walked along the promenade
A wedding to attend
An old sailor stood before me
My way I could not wend
...

I saw a ghost today,
As I walked the way,
Along the edge of the wood.
Momentarily I stood.

A silent killer stalks the Earth,
Just one year since he came to birth,
He silently steals your breath,
No gun or knife to bring your death.

Michael Durcan Biography

I am not much of a poet. I wrote the poems featured here either as an answer to a challenge on the website Quora or because an idea occurred to me that I thought would make a good subject for a poem. I am an engineer not a writer so please don't expect too much.)

A Nasal Passage

Across the verdant pastures green
a monochrome cow herd could be seen
and several beasts with deep intent
emitted their chocolate effluent.

As I hastened by
a Tamworth sty,
the air was rent
with a different scent.

My pace, it quickened,
some smoke grew thickened
from the blazing fire
of old tractor tyres.

Escaping from the rubber stench,
I came upon a buxom wench
whose very acquaintance with a shower
there had not been for many an hour.

Arriving home, was't time for tea?
Aroma of baked cake for me?
But no, something was overloaded
the baby's nappy had just exploded.
