Maureen Alikor Poems

Stood beneath it,
wondering what could have gone wrong.

Staring sternly at its roots;
...

Poets and words.
Words and poets.
One of a kind,
...

If I could mutter words
to be heard by you alone
what would they be?
...

Dear Husband,

How are you? it's been a while, what have you been up to? Where have
you overlooked?
...

Made of clay
Birthed in nature’s voice
Agility is his
As he mounts on time
...

Hold my hand
let's walk the walk
and take the land
while we talk the talk
...

I strayed from home
I sought relieve
I pleaded my cause
upon deaf ears it fell
...

Tonight of all nights
you look fragile
like an egg
without its crate
...

'twas too good,
too good to be true.

The truth remains,
...

Is it the warmth of his hands,
or the tender steps he takes?
...

Far from home,
on an island;
stories that touch abound,
national service it is,
...

See her in stitches,
see her limping with crutches;
her stitches are sewn here and there,
her pains,
...

Alone.
It may be boring.
Alone.
It may be tiring.
...

We carry a burden,
it is weighty,
it is burdensome.
We wish;
...

Mouthful,
lips shuts,
the wide grin.
That deceptive curve.
...

If
you were to be
what you wished
what would it be?
...

19.

I walked
and walked.
I grew weary in
walking
...

My legs
knotted in ties
refuse to walk
this journey of hate
...

In Love With A Stranger

He swept me off;
yes, right from my behind.
His hands were not cold,
yes, they were not cold.

While I sobbed;
he wiped my tears,
in my teary eyes I tried to see,
but my gaze met the cloud.

He sang the songs;
that wriggled my waist.
When I turned to see,
he who played so well,
his behind was what was left.

As they dropped,
from my lips,
the same words he said back to me,
as I ran to catch up;
he flew away from my reach.

Now, my heart aches,
for it abhors the unknown.
I ache to know what he knows,
that I know not yet.

Am facinated by his aura,
yet oblivious of his looks.

Am in love with a stranger.
he was here and there,
he knows me but dares me to.

Am in love with the stranger;
and I wish not to unlove.
