Sippin' on iced tea, walkin' slow,
sticky white T-shirts, gas on low.
Splishin', splashin'
jokin', laughin'.

Grew up on country simple, but so bitter,
West Virginia's wilds, daddy's cow sitter.
Couldn't wait to get on out, disembark,
leave that dusty old town, erase his mark.

It was those boots that reeled him in,
down memory lane, lettin' no one in.
Goin' back, early days, to that place—
comes along that slow smile 'cross his face.

Buckskin yellow, thick black tail,
dark, wise eyes that I know so well.
Quarter horse stock, lines so fine,
power, speed, stop on a dime.

Big Apple—rotten to the core.
Northern horizon—never felt the lore.
Big lights, big dreams, go big or go home.
Disliked, had none, y'all she's alone.
