Jennifer Parks Poems

Floating in an endless sea of hopelessness
sinking steadily toward the eternal darkness
whispered promises of the overwhelming abyss
Yet, saved from it all by One Single Kiss.
...

I was in need of a Vacation
From constant Contemplation
Resulting in no Explanation
So I began my Saturation

She is like a flower
and you must treat her as such.

Sunday morning disc golf is a most spiritual thing:
the metallic jingle of chains as church bells ring

the sight of a disc being launched through the air
...

Born to this world;
sky above, earth below.
Senses abound,
tempting my new born soul.
...

Moonlight, both old and young
glows eternal in Her cycle -
creating tides, both weak and strong;
and the world comes round full circle.

Oh, how I love this Nothingness,
sinking down into that deep abyss;
thinking nothing, feeling nothing
being assured I won’t be missed.
...

I am the mistress of loneliness,
the one who sheds quiet tears,
the being within all of us,
the being we most fear.

If I were an injured soul
would you attempt to heal me?
Would you hold me in your arms
and whisper sweet nothings?

Pale as a corpse, she seems to be;
her spirit and soul, both, cold and empty.
Too long ago, she had rejected her faith.
She, now, is imprisoned in the form of a wraith.

Jennifer Parks Biography

I reside in Texas with my husband Mark, our tortoise Dank, our lizards Gamma and Dandelion, our cat Psycho, our dog Nixon, and all of my plants and trees. I am also the proud mom of two grown girls. I taught high school sciences in what now seems a lifetime ago. I was cursed with more than my fair share of disabilities, however, while they limit what I can do, I still write poetry and prose and read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. My hobbies still include gardening, writing, reading, fishing, and any family time with my girls. I also enjoy disc golf and am attempting to re-learn how to play since my most recent sickness. That's about all there is to me that will fit here. All-in-all, I am me as there is no one else I can honestly be.)
