Jean Young Poems

The moon is obscured by the clouds.
Not one star twinkles in the black
velvet sky.
Crickets chirp happily in the hedges.
...

Hugs from loving little arms
Help make the world go round
And shouts of childish laughter
Are among this world's sweet sounds.
...

As I walked down the road last night
I caught a glimpse of something white
It seemed to dance among the trees
As if the passersby to tease.

Night Sounds Of Suburbia

The moon is obscured by the clouds.
Not one star twinkles in the black
velvet sky.
Crickets chirp happily in the hedges.
A car slithers by: it's headlights
penetrating the darkness.
Down the street, in someone's yard a
dog barks urgently.
Far in the distance an ambulance
wails its sad
and mournful song.
In their houses the people sleep on
Lulled by the night sounds of
suburbia.
