Jasbir Chatterjee Poems

A dark cloud of rain
drifted into my life
And for some time,
I felt good, happy...
...

Yesterday
For some time
I walked
Sat and talked
...

Time just flows past
And you never notice
Till subtle changes come bubbling to the surface;
When intimacy turns into indifference.
...

When problems arise
Like dark clouds into my skies,
A strange kind of thrill goes over me.
Why?
...

Depression,
A 10-letter word,
Easy to utter,
Slithers, oh so easily, down the throat,
...

Come, step
into my sweet, lonely little world!
Hand in hand,
We shall run across the cliffs
...

The doors slid open
And I stepped in…
What a great relief it was
To be so far away
...

I stood at the crowded railway station,
Waiting anxiously for the train to arrive;
Minutes ticked by…
I was already very late…
...

The train is running
Through the fields, the forests, and the deserts…
So close to the earth and yet,
An intrinsic part of the society.
...

I often get a terrible feeling
These days
Of being powerless
Helpless,
...

Speech is silver
And silence, they say, is gold.
But when bitter words remain
Unuttered
...

Your easy laughter
Your jokes and smiles
And your jovial manner
Makes me feel so good, so comfortable…
...

दरवाजे खटाक से खुले
और मैं भीतर आयी...
कैसा भला सुखद अनुभव था
हट कर दूर चले आना
...

When the harsh summer
Surrenders
To the charms of the gentle autumn,
Everything seems to be so beautiful…
...

Holi, the annual Festival of Colors
Came and left this year on the same day...
Dutifully, as per her usual custom...
...

My daughter would turn 10 next month…
I find it hard to believe!
It seems only yesterday
That she was born….
...

One by one,
They fall;
the red clots of my blood...
And all I can do is
...

I am 49,
Going on 50.

I ought to take it easy,
...

A pigeon and his paramour
Sat under a roof,
Inhaling deeply the cool morning air,
On one lovely day of Spring.
...

A day before my 51st Diwali,
The brightest day of the year,
I slowly walked on my way home,
with a charred soul and a lump in my throat,
...

The Best Poem Of Jasbir Chatterjee

A Cloud Of Rain

A dark cloud of rain
drifted into my life
And for some time,
I felt good, happy...
I no longer felt lonely.

I thought life would go on happily
In one long, long stretch of time...
But when the cold, harsh
winds of change started blowing,
The cloud of rain
had to drift away...

Life is still going on
In one long, long stretch of time...
I am not lonely.
I can't say I am sad or unhappy.
But you have left a void
That would take me
a long, long time to fill.

Hi, my name is Michelle and when I was a teenager I used to write poems. But as I got older I stopped doing it. Now, when I try to write something I have nothing. Anyways, I was reading your poem a cloud of rain. It hit home with me. So, I wanted to say thank you for sharing your poems and I can't wait to read more.

Dear Jasbir, Your subjects are universal and connect with most of us. well done. May I suggest, however, that you refrain from your use of cliché, or well-used phrases that may not have achieved the status of 'cliché.' Find the original 'Jasbir-expression' that is memorable. I'm sure you read lots of poetry, but read more. You will never find the worn, tired expressions in good poetry. Also, use poetry can be used as inspiration to think better of others (and the world if not to get too lofty here) . Your comment about someone fiddling with the poll numbers is disappointing.
